A Mountain Home man is set to make the journey to Texas to aid in disaster relief.

Don Nesbitt was at a repair shop Monday morning, making sure the American Red Cross emergency response vehicle is road-ready when he gets the call to hit the road.

Nesbitt will be traveling with another local Red Cross volunteer and says they have yet to be assigned a specific task.

"We may be distributing meals; we might be moving supplies," Nesbitt said. "We could end up in a shelter, we could end up doing a lot of different things depending on what's needed."

The emergency response vehicle is equipped with special storage boxes designed to keep food hot or cold for long periods of time.

Nesbitt says though only a few volunteers from Idaho are mobilizing right now, he expects numbers of those traveling to help will increase as more relief is needed.
