The Idaho Transportation Department has launched a new, redesigned, user-friendly website which they say will help users quickly find information or services relating to the department or Idaho transportation.

In addition to combining certain subject areas and offering information in a more convenient format, the new website is now also compatible with mobile devices, ITD officials said. When displayed on a smart-phone screen or tablet, pages will contract, while continuing to display necessary information.

“It comes down to use-ability,” said ITD Director Brian Ness. “Our goal was to create an interface that is intuitive and easy for our customers.”

“Web pages associated with the Division of Motor Vehicles are frequently visited by ITD customers. The new web site condenses thirty DMV pages into one, using tabs and an accordion,” added ITD spokesman Adam Rush. “Tabs run across the top of a web page, and accordians run down it. Both can be clicked on to give customers additional options.”

On the main DMV page, for example, five tabs are displayed near the top. They are titled Registration/Plates, Driver’s License/ID Cards, Motor Carrier Services, Ports of Entry and Vehicle Dealers.

The redesign of the web site involved Idaho Transportation Department staff members from different divisions, and included a team specifically assigned to the redesign project. Team members contributed input and comments designed to make the site as user-friendly as possible.
