BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Steelheads will begin their 23rd season of hockey in downtown Boise when they host the Wichita Thunder Friday night at Century Link Arena at 7:00 p.m.

Before the first puck of the season drops the Steelheads wanted to thank their dedicated fan base by hosting a free fan fest that runs from 5-7 in the Grove Plaza.

“There is going to be drinks, games and prizes out on the plaza," said Collin Schuck of the Idaho Steelheads. " It is a thank you for supporting us for so long and being able to come in together and celebrate opening day.”

The Steelheads have a new coach this year as Everett Sheen takes over the reigns along with assistant coach Scott Burt who used to be a player for the Steelheads.

The Idaho Steelheads have made the playoffs all 23 years they have played in Boise, a streak the team looks forward to trying to continue.
