Schools are closed for the foreseeable future as coronavirus cases continue to rise in Idaho. To help fill the gap and keep kids exploring, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is introducing online opportunities for families.

IDPR decided to offer the videos as a way to bring parks and national reserves in Idaho to the people instead of families having to leave their homes right now. Through the videos, rangers can take kids and their parents on guided hikes virtually while covering a variety of topics, creating lessons and crafts, and sharing more about the importance of conservation and sustainability.

IDPR is also offering teacher resources and lesson plans here. More learning opportunities are being developed and will be announced through social media.

Parks are currently closed for camping but are still open for day use. You can see how state parks are responding to the COVID-19 outbreak here.
