Idaho law enforcement remember the fallen

Posted

Law enforcement from across Idaho took a moment Wednesday evening to remember fallen officers.

The Idaho State Police held a wreath laying ceremony at the Idaho Peace Officers Memorial.

Roughly 50 people attended.

This year alone, about 123 officers across the nation have died in the line of duty.

"What that means is 123 families are not going to have their loved one this Christmas," said Lt. Col. Sheldon Kelley, deputy director of Idaho State Police. "At this time of year, we don't want to forget those that have put their lives on the line and sacrificed their lives for us."

This is the 20th year for the ceremony, which is held annually, during the week of Christmas.
