Idaho Humane Society welcomes 29 dogs from San Antonio

The Idaho Humane Society welcomed 29 dogs from San Antonio, Texas Tuesday to help with Boise’s dog shortage.

The dogs came from San Antonio Pets Alive, and were flown to Idaho by Dog Is My CoPilot, an organization saving dogs from euthanasia through air transportation.

The project was funded by the Tuso family, in honor of John Tuso’s late wife, who loved dogs.

Kristine Schellhaas says the Idaho Humane Society generally adopts dogs out within seven days, "We actually have a dog shortage here. We have such responsible pet owners, and the city is growing at such an exponential rate that we cannot keep dogs in our shelters," says Schellhaas.

She also says the majority of the dogs are spayed and neutered, they are just in the process of medical checks. All 29 dogs will be available for adoption either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
