BOISE, Idaho — Hungry Idahoans are getting a healthy boost heading into the summer!

Charlie's Produce delivered nearly a ton of fresh apples to the Idaho Foodbank today.

The gift is part of a campaign called "Take a Bite Out of Hunger." The campaign has brought in more than 1.6 million pounds of fresh apples to food banks since the campaign started back in 2010.

Officials with Charlie's Produce say they were happy to help.

"We're part of the Boise community now," said Alex Plummer, General Manager of Charlie's Produce. "We have a distribution center that's about three miles from (the food bank). Its a very natural tie for us to join in a partnership with Idaho Foodbank in order to combat hunger in the Boise area."

Last year, the campaign brought in more than 250,000 pounds of apples around the country.
