A long-standing, cultural tradition in the Treasure Valley picked back up again Saturday allowing wood workers to show off their talent at the Idaho Artistry in Wood Show.
Local wood workers even made toys for sick kids that were handed off to Shriners Club members.
Items are also submitted to be judged as part of a competition and only one artist walks away with the Best of Show title.
In the past, a Treasure Valley artist has won awards at the national level.
"He did it by just working his craft and learning and practicing and getting as many reference materials as he could... and, learning from others," said Doug Rose with the Idaho Woodcarvers Guild, one of the groups that hosts the event every year. "And, that's one of the purposes of these clubs."
Sunday is the last day for the wood show with the doors opening at 10 a.m. at the Wyndham Garden Hotel off of Vista Avenue in Boise.
