The Idaho college of osteopathic medicine in Meridian has partnered with the eastern Idaho regional medical center in Idaho falls to establish an internal medicine residency.

ICOM will grant $500,000 to EIRMC on Thursday, June 28.

"Idaho Falls is an area that needs more physicians. And they've done a great job by bringing great physicians to the area. But what this will do for the whole region will expand the number of physicians they have and improve services for folks not only in Idaho Falls but the whole eastern part of the state," said ICOM Founding Dean and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Robert Hasty.

The three-year residency program will be the first of its kind for Idaho Falls hospital. It will accommodate ten new residents each year, beginning July first.
