The Idaho Transportation Department will soon begin resurfacing and reconstructing several roads in downtown Nampa.

ITD's project, I-84 Business Loop Construction, will affect 2nd and 3rd Streets South between 11th Avenue South and Northside Boulevard, the Library Block and 11th Avenue North to Garrity Boulevard. Construction is anticipated to begin in early June and be completed in July with most of the work being done at night.

This project is adjacent to the City of Nampa's 2nd and 3rd Streets South Roadway Rebuild project.

An open house on the I-84 Business loop Construction project is scheduled for Thursday, May 31 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Casler Room of the Nampa Civic Center. The City of Nampa will attend to provide current information on the 2nd and 3rd Streets South Roadway Rebuild project and to help the public understand where its project ends and ITD's begins.

“The projects are in close proximity to one another and we want to make sure the public understands who to call if they have questions, so the right team can address the issue,” assistant city engineer Jeff Barnes said.

The 2nd and 3rd Streets South project focuses on rebuilding the roadway between 12th and 16th Avenues South. Sidewalk corners are being improved to fit Downtown Historic Streetscape Standards and to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Several underground utilities are also being upgraded. The $2.8 million project is scheduled to be completed in late summer.
