Hundreds of students gathered on the Statehouse steps this afternoon to help kick off the annual Red Ribbon Week, a national anti-drug campaign.
Miss Idaho America Kylee Solberg, Miss Teen Rodeo Idaho Ashley Kerby, and Miss Boise Teen USA Gabriella Simpson were the featured speakers at the rally. Governor Otter and First Lady Lori Otter also attended. Boise School District's Shadow Hills Elementary Choir, directed by Gina Spangler, performed for those in attendance.
During Red Ribbon Week, which runs from October 24th to 28th, a variety of school events have been planned, such as students hearing drug-free messages through school-wide assemblies, making pledges to stay drug-free, and participating in various drug-free activities.
