House of Soup food drive will feed thousands

Posted

Ada County realtors help construct a home for the less fortunate but it's not your typical house. It's one that is made out of soup cans.

Members of the Ada County Association of Realtors have been gathering soup can donations for several weeks now.

They want to collect 10,000 cans to help meet the growing need in the Treasure Valley.

The group's president, Brenda Kolsen, encourages others to donate what they can.

"If you have extra cans of soup, get out and get them donated... and get involved with the community and help the people that need your help," she says.

In one month, the group has gathered over 9,300 cans, and they're confident their goal will be met any day now.

Once they reach the 10,000 mark, the soup will be dropped off at the Eagle Food Bank, The Vineyard in Garden City, the Life Resource Center in Meridian and St. Vincent de Paul in Boise.
