BOISE, Idaho — Central District Health officials confirmed the first death from COVID-19 in Ada County Sunday, and according to officials, a second Ada County death has been recorded as well.

Health officials say the first person who died was over 60 with pre-existing health issues and had lab-confirmed illness that was being investigated prior to their death.

“We extend our sympathy and thoughts to the family and friends of this resident who has passed. As some of us begin to see this virus impact those we know, it becomes much more personal. We urge each person in our communities to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 to protect themselves, family, friends, and neighbors,” said Russ Duke, district director for Central District Health.

Health officials are continuing their investigation into who the deceased had contact with. If others are found to have been exposed, officials will provide guidance and monitor symptoms.

At this time, health officials say there have been 113 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ada County and 40 in Canyon County.
