Planning to travel for the holiday weekend? Make sure to check your route!

The Idaho Transportation Department says many of the Central Mountain Highways are closed.

Idaho Highway 55 is currently open from the Treasure Valley to New Meadows, but if you're taking this road, drive with caution. There are icy spots and potholes have formed in some areas. U.S. 95 is also currently open, and there is favorable weather forecasted over the weekend.

Idaho Highway 21 is closed between Idaho City and Lowman. ITD says crews are working to clear heavy snow from the roadway, but additional snow forecasted for this weekend suggests the closure may stay in effect into the weekend. Officials remind everyone parking on the highway is not allowed. Access to park and ski areas is also unlikely.

The section of ID-21 is also closed between Lowman and Stanely due to avalanches. ITD says the closure will likley remain in effect into the weekend or beyond.

Idaho Highway 75 is currently open from the Wood River Valley to Stanely, but there is a risk of avalanches falling on the roadway, so drive with extreme caution. The road may be closed later in the weekend due to forecasted snow and wind.
