BOISE — Boise Police officers are asking for the public’s help in locating 57-year-old Tracy Rae Gibson, who currently has two felony warrants in Ada County in connection to his alleged involvement in multiple construction-related scams.

Over the last six months, Boise Police Property Crimes detectives said they have investigated multiple reports involving Gibson.

In each case, the suspect advertised online that he could provide window replacement services on homes in the Boise area. After agreeing upon contracts and taking down payments, the suspect then failed to complete the jobs and would not respond to the homeowners who paid him, according to a Boise Police news release.

Gibson was arrested in early January, but failed to appear on those charges. He currently has felony arrest warrants for failure to appear and grand theft, the release said.

Officers say they have recently spoken to Gibson by phone, but he refuses to cooperate or turn himself in.

Boise Police are worried that additional people may fall victim to this scam and officers are asking anyone with information about Gibson’s location to contact the Boise Police Department at 208-570-6000 or non-emergency dispatch at 208-377-6790.

Police are also advising consumers who are thinking about hiring a contractor to:

  • Research the contractor/business prior to requesting services
  • Ask for referrals/references
  • Check reviews at BBB.org
  • Avoid paying in cash
  • Avoid paying more than 10% of the job total or more than $1,000 up front.
