MERIDIAN — No matter which cookie you claim as your favorite, they all go with a glass of milk… and they’re the perfect pair to fight hunger too.

"Dairy West matches each box for one dollar for milk which goes to hungry families in need," said VP of communications for Dairy West Cindy Miller.

Dairy West and the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage here in Idaho teamed up to help The Idaho Foodbank. Each box helps a family in need.

“Right now we’re already at about 4500 boxes," said director of product programs for Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Clint Kofoed.

The fifth graders out are putting their sales skills to the test.

“it’s business skills, like selling stuff, marketing," said 5th grade Girl Scouts Brooklynn Lowry and Naina Tejpal.

That's not the only reason why they do it, however.

“It’s [really] important that we can just help everybody, instead of just sit there and work on poster boards. we can actually get out there and do something," said Girl Scout Claire Robinson.

Service is a big focus in Girl Scouts, and these girls are preparing for their next big service project, their bronze awards.

“We’re doing planter boxes for the memory care citizens," said Lowry.

Spending the afternoon raising money for the community today is just a crumb of what they hope to accomplish.

“I think most important think they can teach is how to be a friend to everybody and be happy and kind a save the world," said Lowry.
