GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Garden City Police say they have arrested a man after several hours of communication with a crisis negotiation team.
On Sunday at around 1:30 p.m. Garden City police say they responded to a trespassing report sent in by a local hotel on Chinden Boulevard.
The staff who contacted police told officers, the man trespassing, Robert Kelly had threatened staff members with a gun while in his hotel room, and when officers say they attempted to make contact with Kelly, he threatened them as well.
Due to the severity of the threats, Garden City Police say they called Ada County Metro SWAT to the scene along with a team of crisis negotiators.
After several hours of negotiation, police say Kelly eventually surrendered without incident.
Kelly is charged and was arrested for Aggravated Assault and will appear in court tomorrow.
