A 19-year-old Garden City man will be charged with felony aggravated battery after stabbing his roommate in the back of the neck.

On December 31st at 10:00 am, the Garden City Police Department responded to the 4700 block of Windward Court after a stabbing was reported.

When officers arrived, they found a man that was bleeding due to a stab wound.

Police discovered that the victim was roommates with 19-year-old Jacob Eskola who was allegedly under the influence of narcotics and was “demonstrating suicidal and homicidal tendencies,” according to a press release.

The victim attempted to flee Eskola's home on E. 47th Steet when Eskola followed the man and stabbed him.

The victim was able to make it to Windward Court and call police.

Garden City Police Officers established a perimeter around Eskola’s home and after a brief standoff, Eskola was taken into custody.

Eskola was taken to a local hospital for a facial laceration believed to have been self-inflicted and will be booked into Ada County Jail after being released.

The victim is expected to live.
