FRUITLAND — Amid three misdemeanor charges, Fruitland High School principal Mike Fitch has resigned his position.

In a release sent by Fruitland School District on Thursday, the district announced the resignation with superintendent Teresa Fabricius saying the job will be posted immediately.

Fitch's attorneys Alex Briggs and Mistie Bauscher are quoted in the release, saying "Mr. Fitch’s resignation does not admit any liability or wrongdoing and he makes this decision based on what’s best for his family. Due to the intense and biased media coverage in this matter, we look forward to presenting the facts in the future."
