Memorial day festivities often lead people outdoors and to ensure everyone is hitting the water safely this weekend the U.S. Coast Guard helped out today by giving boaters free vessel safety checks.
Certified vessel examiners were on hand near Lucky Peak trying to keep the recreation area as safe as possible through the three-day weekend.
The boat checks were free today, crews also educated boaters on proper paperwork to keep on hand before hitting the water.
