Starting Monday, February 1, the Ada County Highway District will begin construction to widen Five Mile Road between Fairview Avenue and Ustick Road to five lanes.
“The road will be reduced to two lanes, and motorists can expect delays,” said ACHD spokeswoman Nicole DuBois. Drivers should take alternate routes whenever possible, she added.
Flaggers will guide traffic through the construction zone.
“Along with widening Five Mile Road, crews will construct bike lanes on both sides of the road, as well as add curb, gutter and sidewalks. A HAWK (High-intensity Activated crosswalk) will be installed near Five Mile Road and Granger Street,” DuBois stated.
“The project will improve the traffic flow along Five Mile Road and improve pedestrian and bicycle safety and connectivity.” she added.
The project is expected to be complete later this fall.
