HAZELTON, Idaho — One Idaho Fish and Game employee is dead and another is severely injured after a vehicle collision near Hazelton.

Idaho Fish and Game says the two employees were involved in a collision with multiple vehicles. The employees were traveling on westbound I-84 near Hazelton.

52-year-old Douglas Megargle, an employee with Fish and Game for more than two decades, succumbed to his injuries from the accident. 60-year-old Sally Rose, an 18-year Fish and Game employee, is in intensive care in a Pocatello hospital. Both employees were long time residents of the Magic Valley.

“As friends and colleagues, our thoughts and prayers are with Sally, and with Doug’s family, during this difficult time,” Fish and Game Director Ed Schriever said. “Doug was a respected fishery professional who I have personally worked with for many years, and I am heartbroken about this tragedy. Sally is a leader among our administrative support staff, and we will do eve-rything we can to support her recovery.”

Fish and Game officials say both were on duty. Megargle is the 11th employee lost in the line of duty, and only the second to lose his life in a car accident in the 120 year history of Fish and Game.
