The Boise Fire Department and Boise Police are on scene of a fire on the Boise Bench.

6 On Your Side crews on scene say two homes were damaged in the fire, one moderately and one majorly.

Dispatch says the fire started in the 2300 block of Overland road in a backyard shed behind one of the homes around 1:45 Wednesday. Overland road is currently blocked between Helen and Columbus.

"Due to some high winds in the area the fire was rapidly extending to the other residence," said Boise Fire Battalion Chief Tom Moore. "We did have some visibility problems with the smoke blowing across Overland. So, we had the Boise Police respond very quickly to help us out and shut the roads down."

There were no injuries.

Officials tell 6 On Your Side two families will need assistance from the burnout fund.
