EAGLE — The Eagle Field of Honor at Reid Merrill Senior Community Park pays tribute to service men and women and will showcase flags through the memorial day weekend.

The field displays 600 flags each one one dedicated to a hero who fought in order to protect the freedoms we hold so dear.

"What I hope people take away from it is number one, remember," said co-chairman Heather Paredes, "remembering those that have served and showing that recognition for those currently serving.

The Field of Honor started in 2008 and has happened every year since making it the longest consecutive field of honor in the country.

This is a volunteer effort spearheaded by two sisters who tell us flags can be purchased to honor any veteran for thirty dollars. The proceeds benefit Project Healing Waters, which teaches veterans to fly fish as a way to relax, and Pets For Vets.

"We want them to know they're not alone," said Paredes.
