Idaho police are slowly starting to enforce a new law that targets slow drivers in the fast lane.

The Idaho Press reports that as of July 27, only two drivers have been cited for driving too slowly on the fast lane since the law took effect July 1.

Idaho State Police have given warnings to three other drivers.

Idaho State Police Lt. Shawn Staley says vehicle moving slowly on fast lanes can cause accidents and crashes.

He says drivers who are holding up traffic by going below the speed limit in the left lane could face a $90 fine.

Rep. Lance Clow, who sponsored the bill, says he doesn't expect state troopers to look for slow drivers actively, but it's a tool they can use if needed.
