Fatal crash in early morning of New Year's Day leaves one dead and two hospitalized

CALDWELL, Idaho — Early Friday morning, Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash on the westbound side of Interstate 84 near milepost 32.

Police responded to the crash at around 2:30 in the morning and found that a Toyota Sequoia, being driven by Kaleb Torres, 24, was traveling east in the westbound lanes.

The Sequoia crashed into a Ford Focus being driven by Nicholas White, 19, who had three passengers with him, Reed Thulander, 19, Kenzie White, 21 and Wyatt Currey, 20.

Both Currey and Torres were taken by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Thulander died of his injuries at the scene.

No other injuries were reported by the Idaho State Police.
