Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is hosting its annual Boss Lift Thursday at Gowen Field. The annual event provides local civilian employers and supervisors of Idaho Guardsmen and Reservists an opportunity to better understand what their employees do while they are away from their civilian occupation to perform military duty and training.

Boss Lift kicks off at noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., employers will receive an orientation to various simulators, facilities, aircraft and other military hardware used by the Idaho National Guard and Reserves, including the A-10 Thunderbolt II. UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter flights to the Orchard Combat Training Center will provide employers insight into the combat training and austere field conditions unique to the nation’s premier military training ranges 30 miles south of Boise.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employer's principal advocate within the Department of Defense.
