Emmett police chief Gary Scheihing says the new illegal narcotics tip line has yielded several tips per day, far more than had been originally anticipated.
Police say the tip line is anonymous; it's just a place to leave messages and police do not keep track of caller identity, and warrant to the public that the line is anonymous. "I'm sure if we absolutely had to we could get the information," said Chief Scheihing. "But we're not going to do that. When we tell you it's anonymous, it's anonymous."
"Right now," said Chief Scheihing, we've had four different messages about one house. The line is telling us where to focus our attention. And that's where our narc guy is going to put his attention."
