NAMPA, iIdaho — A 78-year-old Nampa woman has died as result of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision Tuesday morning.

According to a news release from the Nampa Police Department, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Birch Lane and Kensington Drive shortly before 7:30 a.m. The crash involved a white Chevrolet truck striking the elderly woman, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the woman with severe injuries, said Nampa Police spokesman Gary Marang. The Nampa Fire Department and Canyon County paramedics also responded to the scene. “Both agencies performed life-saving measures on the female; however, despite their efforts, the female died at the scene of the crash as a result of her injuries,” Marang said.

The Nampa Police Department Traffic Unit investigators interviewed several witnesses. “The 78-year old male driver was cooperative with officers and was released after they completed their interview with him. Alcohol and/or drug impairment are not considered to be contributing factors,” Marang pointed out.

The woman’s name was not immediately released.

The Nampa Police Department is continuing its investigation and encourages any potential witnesses who may have additional information to contact them.
