Suspect in custody after police negotiations

UPDATE: Meridian Police arrested Jefferson Griffith of Nampa at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Griffith was booked into the Ada County Jail for Violation of a No Contact Order, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon X 2, Unlawful Entry, Malicious Injury to Property, Resisting and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer and misdemeanor Battery.

Meridian Police Department thanks the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the Ada County Metro SWAT Team and the Idaho State Police for their assistance on this call.

Multiple agencies are engaged in negotiations in Kuna after reports of a violation of a no contact order and an aggravated battery.

Meridian Police responded to the call in the 5000 block of S. Meridian Road around 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Officers say the 53-year-old suspect had forced his way into the home of a woman who had a no contact order against him, threatening her with a handgun.

After a struggle with another person in the home, the suspect fled the scene. Officers found the suspect south of Kuna off of Swan Falls Road. Officers from the Meridian Police Department, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Ada County Metro SWAT Team are now on scene and engaged in negotiations with the suspect.

The suspect's identity has not yet been released.
