Ada County police say one person is dead and 3 others were transported to Saint Alphonsus Hospital today, June 17 2016, in Boise after a car crash on Highway 16.
A blue Honda Accord and a Jeep SUV crashed earlier this afternoon just north of milepost 104.
Police say the blue Honda was traveling northbound when it crossed double, unbroken highway lines into southbound lanes and collided with a Jeep, killing one person. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the Honda to cross into oncoming traffic.
After the collision, the Jeep caught on fire and ignited a small grass fire which the Bureau of Land Management contained. Highway 16 remains closed at this time.
ISP is still investigating the accident and has not released the identity of the person killed.
