State police are investigating a car crash that killed two people just east of Donnelly.

Wednesday night just before 10:30 p.m., Idaho State Police were called to the scene of a car crash on West Mountain Road, near Little Lane, east of Donnelly.

Police say Devin Hawkins, 36, of McCall, was traveling north on West Mountain Road, when he failed to negotiate a turn. The car he was driving, a 2002 Porsche, went off the right side of the road. Authorities say Hawkins overcorrected and crossed to the left side of the road, hitting a culvert. Police say the car went airborne and hit a tree, before landing on its wheels.

Hawkins' passengers, Kerri Hawkins, 37, of McCall, and a child, died on the scene. Devin Hawkins was transported by ambulance to St. Luke's McCall Medical Center. Police say everyone was wearing seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police with help from the Valley County Sheriff's Department.
