The Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for information after a deputy found the body of a newborn infant in a diaper bag.
The bag was found laying on the west side of the road on South Blue Lakes at 3360 North.
Investigators believe that the child had only been at the Blue Lakes location for a short time.
An autopsy was unable to determine whether the full-term newborn girl was born alive or dead.
Lori Stewart, with the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office said that the last time she recalls a deceased infant being found in Twin Falls was in 1974, also on New Years Eve, and also on a bridge of a canal. In that case, the baby boy had been murdered, and the case was never solved.
The deputies have named the infant girl Angel Rose, and will be raising money to give her a special memorial and burial.
If you have any information, recognize the diaper bag, or witnessed a vehicle in this area early this morning, please contact SIRCOMM at 735-1911.
