The Ada County Coroner has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Meridian Monday afternoon.

Coroner Dotti Owens said Christopher Williams, 41, of Boise died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. when an Idaho State Police trooper pulled over Williams in a traffic stop near Waltman Lane and Meridian Road. Williams reportedly ran from the trooper.
An altercation then occurred between the trooper and the suspect, resulting in the trooper firing his service weapon.

ISP spokesman Tim Marsano said the trooper is currently on paid administrative leave, per department policy. He did not release any additional information on the trooper.

The Boise Police Department is heading up the Critical Incident Task Force investigation.
