As 6 On Your Side preps for the 10th Annual Community Baby Shower sponsored by Albertsons and Blue Cross of Idaho, the station has been featuring local families that benefit from the program.
Companies like Baby Steps, which has a program in Ada and Canyon County, gives parents the opportunities and tools to be successful. Products received from the baby shower go to Baby Steps, which hands out diapers, wipes and new clothes to families who enroll in the program and complete courses.
Tia Chavarrie is thankful for Baby Steps and the items she receives. She is a mother of four children who is working to complete a master’s degree in chemistry with a forensic emphasis.
"Baby Steps is about community. It's about learning something whether you are a first-time mom or veteran mom.
We each have something to learn, and each has something to give,” Tia explained. "The baby shower is really the community's opportunity to keep Idaho babies clean and dry. And we know even if you don't have a child you can still be responsible for helping to raise healthy children in our community."
