SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A Coeur d'Alene woman has been arrested in the 2017 slaying of 73-year-old Shirley Ann Ramey, who was found shot to death in her Trestle Creek home.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports 57-year-old Judith Marie Carpenter was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree murder. She was being held in the Bonner County jail.
She appeared by video at a hearing in magistrate court Friday. Outside the courtroom, her husband, Jim Flannery, said Carpenter was innocent.
A criminal complaint alleges Carpenter shot and killed Ramey on April 5, 2017, during a burglary. Ramey was a retired clerk for the city of Hope. Her husband found her body.
Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler says investigators arrested Carpenter after checking weapons test results against a national database.
