The City of Boise is looking to purchase more land in the foothills for recreational use.
The 840 acres are located adjacent to Stack Rock Reserve near Bogus Basin Recreation Area, about nine miles from Boise.
The land is to be purchased from AR Boise LLC at $500 an acre. The $420,000 would come from the Foothills Levy Fund approved by voters in 2001.
Stack Rock Reserve is a 1,320-acre destination for hikers and cyclists. Boise purchased Stack Rock Reserve with the help of a $1 million donation by Fred Alleman.
"With another 800 acres, we have over 2,000 acres up toward Bogus Basin that will be made available to the public, and, not only for people, but set aside forever to protect our water, because it's the top of a watershed," Boise City Council President Pro Tem Lauren McLean said.
The Boise City Council will vote on the purchase at their regular meeting, Tuesday Nov. 28.
