City of Boise orders foothills homes to be demolished

Two homeowners were served papers on May 12th, stating that pursuant to Boise's dangerous buildings code, their homes need to be demolished at the owner's expense.

"They have 15 days to begin the work of tearing down the property and 25 days from that notice to complete the tearing down of the property," said Mike Journee spokesman for the city.

The city, however, said they are under the impression that the homeowners plan on challenging the decision made by the city so it could change the timeframe, but should the homeowners simply refuse, then the city would have no choice to hire a contractor and do it themselves, and then bill the property owners.
