Christmas spirit rolls through downtown Boise

Roads were blocked off in downtown Boise Saturday morning to make room for the 2016 Holiday Parade.

People lined the streets to see the mini performances and a variety of decorated floats roll by.

Those in the procession we talked to said they love this time of year because of the decadent foods and widespread holiday cheer everywhere.

"It's just super joyful and cheery and the weather isn't too bad out here," said Lace Mather, a student at the Paul Mitchell cosmetology school in Boise who was in the parade. "So, it's just a beautiful day even though the sun is not out but that's okay."

The holiday shopping season is almost here with Black Friday coming up, followed by Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

If you're on a tight budget, we have some Six On Your Side tips to share. They include making a list of who you're buying for with ideas and noting the maximum amount you can spend.

Of course, you could also avoid the madness all together by making homemade gifts to share with loved ones.
