Chobani, the food company best known for its yogurt, will give each of its employees up to six hours of paid time off to get the COVID-19 vaccine, when available.
The announcement came in a post from the company’s president and chief operating officer Peter McGuinness on LinkedIn.
“Chobani will cover six hours of time for its employees to get vaccinated (three hours for each of the two COVID-19 vaccine doses when available to our workforce),” he wrote. “It’s simple, fair and the right thing to do.”
Chobani operates a large plant to manufacture yogurt and other products outside of Twin Falls. It also opened an innovation center on the site in 2019,according to the Capital Press. The Twin Falls Times-News says the company employs more than 1,000 Idahoans.
“Our plant employees have been on the frontlines of putting food on America’s kitchen tables 24/7 during this pandemic,” McGuinness wrote. “They’re the heart of our company and we’ll do whatever we can to protect them.”
Chobani also said it would provide Chobani products to hospitals and vaccination sites to thank healthcare workers.
