Early Monday morning a car with 6 people inside drove into the Selway River near Darby, Montana. According to the Idaho County Sheriff's office only 2 of the passengers were able to escape.
Two Bear Air and a medical search and rescue helicopter assisted in the search for the other 4 passengers, along with the Ravalli County Sheriff's office. The search efforts were unsuccessful.
Because of high-water and fast moving conditions it was deemed unsafe to remove the vehicle from the river at this time.
The search continues for 4 of the missing passengers. Their names are not being released until all families are notified.
