CANYON COUNTY, Idaho — The Canyon County Assessor's Office has decided to change the hours of operation for the Motor Vehicle Title and Registration Office located inside the DMV. The change comes after a review of employee tasks and customer support data.
Starting Monday, the hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Canyon County Assessor's Office says the new hours will give staff time to process daily transactions.
Staff will also use the time to scan titles for the Idaho Transportation Department instead of mailing them to Boise. This change has helped streamline and reduce title processing time, but it is causing a larger workload for staff and increased overtime. Right now, staff has to double check all scanning uploads on a nightly basis to ensure all title documents are attached before the electronic transmittal process is complete.
An express lane has been added for simple renewal transaction in an effort to reduce wait times. The queuing system will provide an "X" ticket correlating to the express lane. Those with old registration, renewal card or plate number of the vehicle needing renewed are asked to stand in the express lane rather than sitting down. Simple renewals can also be completed on the ITD website or mailed in.
The current estimated wait time for the Title and Registrations Office can be found here.
