Caldwell Police investigators are looking for a Hispanic man who they say robbed an employee at the Maverick store at 510 E. Ustick Street in Caldwell early Wednesday, then stole with a customer’s vehicle.

According to Caldwell Police Lt. Dave Wright, the man -– wearing glasses, blue jeans, and an orange Boise State sweatshirt -– entered the convenience store at Ustick and 10th Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. The suspect appeared to be 18-25 years old, witnesses said.

“(The suspect) approached an employee working in the store, and demanded the employee give him some store property. When the clerk refused, the suspect produced a knife, took the property in question, and left the business,” Wright said.

Wright did not specify what the property was, only saying it “belonged to the store” and was “not money.”

Meantime, a female customer entered the store, leaving her vehicle parked in front of the business. The vehicle, a grey 2001 Ford Taurus, was left unlocked with the engine running.

The suspect then took off in the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
