Caldwell man arrested for sexual battery of a minor

CALDWELL, Idaho — The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Caldwell man on three counts of sexual battery of minor following an investigation. There were allegations against Raymond W. Carrel, 57, for forced sexual contact with an underage girl.

Carrel was taken into custody on May 13 without incident and booked into the Canyon County Jail.

According to detectives, the incident occurred on April 30, 2020, at Carrel’s residence located on the 21000 block of Towns Circle in Caldwell. The 17-year-old victim told detectives that Carrel pushed her down on a bed and forced her to have unwanted sexual contact with him.

During an interview with detectives, Carrel admitted to having sexual contact with the victim on April 30 and knowing that she was 17-years-old. He also admitted to having sex with her in the summer of 2019 and then paying her $300.

Carrel is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28 at 8:30 a.m.
