A Caldwell man is behind bars on charges of attempted kidnapping (2nd degree) and lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16.
Police say officers responded to Sebree Park in Caldwell around 8:00 PM Friday for a report of child enticement. Officers say the person who called dispatch told them a man had picked up his three-year-old daughter and was trying to take her and his five-year-old son to his vehicle.
The childrens' older siblings were able to alert their father of the man's actions. The father confronted the man, and he set the children down and ran to a nearby church. Police say they located him as he left the church.
Police arrested 54-year-old Sidney Baker, who was booked into the Canyon County Jail on the attempted kidnapping and lewd conduct charges.
None of the children were injured.
