The City of Caldwell  approves plans for a 6.5 million dollar project to renovate the downtown area.

An empty dirt lot will soon be home to “The Indian Creek Plaza” which aims to be a thriving community meeting place in the center of downtown.

Organizers tell 6 On Your Side it will include an ice skating rink and ribbon, which will be the fifth of its kind in the entire United States. There will also be outdoor dining, fire pits and splash pads during the summer.

Additionally, project leaders say they'll host a variety of fun family friendly activities like outdoor movie nights and summer concerts.

The non-profit "Destination Caldwell" will soon kick off a capital campaign to raise the final one million dollars.

They say their goal is to make the heart of Downtown Caldwell a desired destination and the Indian Creek Plaza a fun, family friendly and free spot to hang out.
