BOISE — Police in Ada and Canyon counties responded to more than 100 traffic slide-offs, rollovers and crashes, due to hazardous driving conditions caused by the Tuesday morning snowfall.

Many of the crashes were caused by motorists driving too fast for the conditions .

Police say about six people were taken to area hospitals with injuries. None were believed to be life-threatening.

Idaho State Police spokesman Tim Marsano said troopers handled about 70 crashes on the Interstate from the Ada-Elmore County line to Caldwell. An Ada County dispatch supervisor told us Boise City officers and Ada County Sheriff''s Office deputies handled about 65 crashes.

Most of the wrecks happened during the morning rush-hour commute, but police in Ada County were still handling snow-related crashes Tuesday afternoon.

The accidents caused a number of traffic back-ups and delays.

Drivers are urged to use extreme caution in the hazardous driving conditions.
