Boise State Public Radio shifts focus to other non-profits on Giving Tuesday

Posted

The Tuesday after the Thanksgiving weekend shopping craze is now known as "Giving Tuesday", shifting the focus to donations for non-profit organizations.

On this Giving Tuesday, Boise State Public Radio is shining the spotlight on other organizations, despite also being non-profit.

They've been encouraging listeners all day to get on their website and nominate their favorite non-profit organization in the Treasure Valley.

One lucky organization will receive $1,000 of free on-air messaging.

"This is a way to really draw attention to the really great and important work that non-profits are doing," Boise State Public Radio Development Director Aimee Moran said. "We wanted to pivot the focus off of us for the day and put it on to perhaps some of the more maybe under-known non-profits that maybe don't have the resources to invest in underwriting and give them an opportunity to get the word out to our listener base."

The winner will be selected at random and announced Wednesday.
