Third-graders at Boise's Whitney Elementary School were gifted with dictionaries Thursday, Oct. 12, thanks to the Boise Rotary Club.

Rotary members, including Miss Idaho 2017, passed out more than 80 dictionaries -- each one personalized with students' names.

The club also donated extra dictionaries to be distributed among teachers and to keep in the school library. They say it's one of their favorite yearly projects.

"We take it for granted, of course, being adults," said Ron Gambassi, Boise Rotary Club President. "But some of these kids, especially kids from other countries, this is a gift. They view it, really, as a gift and in many cases, cherish it."

In addition to delivering the dictionaries, rotarians also showed the students how to use them.

The civic organization has donated these valuable resources to students all over the world in partnership with the Dictionary Project.
