BOISE — After an investigation stretching over several weeks, Boise Police officers have arrested a man suspected of stealing multiple ATMs from Boise-area businesses.
According to a BPD news release, detectives have connected the suspect -- identified as Clarence Lancaster, 63, of Salt Lake City -- to three burglaries. “One was at a business near N. Milwaukee St. and Franklin on April 28; a second was on the 4800 block of W. Emerald on May 24; and a third was at a business on the 700 block of E. Park Street on May 6. In each case, the suspect broke into the business overnight or early in the morning, unplugged the machine, loaded it onto a hand cart and carried it away,” the release said.
Police obtained several surveillance images of the suspect and his vehicle.
On Sunday, Boise Police officers spotted Lancaster near Broadway and Beacon Streets and confronted him.
Lancaster was later booked into the Ada County Jail on three charges of felony burglary.
“The ATMs and the hand cart have been recovered. They were found discarded in a field off Emerald St. The money had been removed from each of the ATMs,” the release said.
Lancaster is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Tuesday.
